Tip of the day: Try some pastilles My throat was a little scratchy this morning, so I sucked on a blackcurrant pastille (Cassis Pastilles) . They are a wonderful chewy consistency - nothing like the hard candy type of cough drop/throat lozenge we have here in the US. A few years ago, scratchy throats were going around a workshop I attended in Germany. My wonderful German roommate got me a box of Ricola Krauterpastillen (Blackcurrent Pastilles). They are so great for a sore throat. We have Ricola cough drops here in America, but no pastilles. Pity.
Before I left for Europe, a friend clued me in to Paris Macarons and recommended that I find the shop of Pierre Herme www.pierreherme.com. I never made it to Pierre Herme, but found Laduree http://www.laduree.fr / and sampled the french macaron. Delectable. Flavor guide and brochure: http://www.laduree.fr/_docs/produits/_brochures/laduree-flyer-macarons.pdf Brought home an assortment box to share with the family. Raspberry, carmel and coconut were favorites. Something new - always fun.
Tip of the day: Buy that special coffee while you are there! ...could it be that 11 years later I still crave a cup of the coffee I enjoyed in a restaurant in Sevilla, Espana? http://www.catunambu.com/eng/intro.html ...that I keep emailing the company pitifully, asking them to let me buy the coffee? ...that even though La Tienda carries Catunambu for the U.S. market, they don't carry the little individual foil packets of the instant decaf coffee that I enjoyed so I won't order the drip decaf they do offer? http://www.tienda.com/food/products/cf-14-2.html Such is the dedication of the woman who enjoys a good cup of Café descafeinado in Spain.... I sent another pleading email today. Sevilla - Catunambu por favor!
